Bad Weather Policy

St. Thomas' Catholic Primary School-Bad Weather and School Closure
1. In the event of bad weather or other unusual circumstances, any closure of this school will be broadcast on local radio as soon as possible once a decision has been made.

2. The message will be broadcast on:
BBC Radio Derby, BBC Radio Nottingham and RAM FM.
Please listen to the radio as it is the only means of informing you.
The radio stations only broadcast messages if schools are closed.
If there is no message, school is officially open.

3. Please arrange to phone other parents once you hear of our school being closed.

4. You will always be able to collect children early if you are concerned about deteriorating conditions etc.

5. If we have sudden bad weather during the day and we have concerns about children getting home, we will use the radio to ask you to arrange to collect your children early.
Again, it would be helpful if parents could arrange a telephone network to call and inform each other.

6. Children will not be sent home without a parent/carer to
accompany them.

7. Please remember, that during very bad weather, even if school
is open, it is parents who must take the decision about your
child?s coming to school.
You should consider the possibility of having to collect your child early and your own safety in getting back to school.

Remember the simple slogan: ?If in doubt, don?t set out!?
